Two weeks after Discovery discontinued its service on My-HD for non-payment of fees, it has now announced that its channels will no longer be available on OSN due to a breakdown in negotiations.
Discovery has announced that the company is pulling all channels hosted on pay TV network OSN with immediate effect. Channels going dark include Discovery Channel, TLC, Discovery Science and Investigation Discovery.
The termination also includes withdrawal of the Discovery’s channels from OSN’s partner platforms.
Discovery has been a partner with OSN for more than 12 years. The company said that they had proposed several different options to OSN to ensure continued partnership in the MENA region.
As a result, Discovery’s shows including Say Yes To The Dress, Cake Boss, Gold Rush and Fast N’ Loud will no longer be available in the Middle East.
In a statement, Discovery said: “Discovery regrets to advise that despite negotiating in good faith for several months it has been forced to cease broadcast of our channels on OSN. It proposed several different options to OSN to ensure that our MENA fan base could continue to watch the shows they enjoy. Unfortunately, OSN has refused to finalise negotiations. Due to this, and despite its best endeavours, Discovery has been forced to terminate the agreement. Discovery remains hopeful that an agreement will be reached to bring back its channels for fans across the region and will provide updates when available.
