The 20th Digital Studio will premiere a series of short films featuring 60 shorts, ranging from horror comedy to psychological thrillers, for Halloween 2020. The entire series of 60 shorts will be screened across September and October on Disney’s digital and broadcast platforms including ABC, Freeform, FX and Hulu.
The 20th Digital Studio is scheduled to premiere the series titled Zero Day, a selection of this year’s bite-size shorts, at the Official Selection of CanneSeries S3 during MIPTV in October 2020. These 10 two-minute horror shorts are scheduled to be screened in competition in Cannes at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
The studio’s previous short genre content Bite Size Horror, released during the 2017 Halloween season, was named “Best of the Best” in Short-Form Fiction by the 2018 Brand Film Festival. Several of the 20th Digital Studio alumni from The Bite Size film shorts include Salt, directed by Rob Savage.
Integrations and sponsorships are being spearheaded by Jerry Daniello, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Brand Solutions, Disney Advertising Sales. The 20th Digital Studio is run by Executive Vice President David Worthen Brooks and Vice President Arbi Pedrossian.
Commenting on the shorts, David Worthen Brooks, EVP of 20th Digital Studio, said: “We are seeing so much energy in the short form horror genre and we are excited to provide a world platform for a community of emerging new filmmakers. This process will provide the necessary funding to support creative storytellers and give them the resources needed to realise their vision.”
