In a first for the service, Disney+ live-streamed the announcement of the 2022 Academy Awards nominations.
Disney+ has carried out its first-ever test of a live streaming capability, suggesting live content is on the slate for subscribers.
The company ran a live stream of the 94th Oscar nominations on Disney+ in the US, with the event also live-streamed to Hulu, ABC News Live and the Academy Awards own platforms.
n a statement, Disney said: “We performed a test for live streaming capabilities on Disney+ in the US with this morning’s Academy Award nominations. We are pleased with the results and will continue to test as part of our ongoing and iterative approach to deliver the best user experiences to consumers.”
Disney+ offers some live streaming options in other countries, including sports in India and WWE events in Indonesia. Disney has other platforms with live streaming options in the US, including Hulu + Live TV and ESPN+.
