Dr Riyadh Najm, Head of Saudi Arabias state media authority, has been relieved of his duties.
He was heading the media authority that ensures broadcasters reinforce the kingdoms religious, social and cultural values. There are no privately owned radio or television stations in Saudi Arabia.
Dr Najm was appointed in 2013 as Chairman of the General Commission for Visual and Audio Media to regulate, supervise and develop the kingdoms broadcast media. The government did not reveal why he had been relieved of his duties.
