The 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) will kick off today at AM Studio in Al Quoz and Canon Middle East has joined hands with the competition as imaging sponsor.
Filmmakers will create a four- to seven-minute film in just 48 hours based on the elements provided by the organisers and submit their entries by Saturday 7.30pm.
It’s fantastic for us to be the official imaging sponsor for this event, said Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East.
At Canon we are all about helping people unleash their inner creativity with our wide range of photographic and film equipment to suit all tastes and budgets.
Over the course of the contest, Canon will launch its new 4K line up – the C300 Mark II for professionals, and the XC10, for beginners.
The C300 Mark II Cinema EOS camcorder records in 4K, and can film in ultra HD.
The XC10 is perfect for the sort of guerilla film-making we expect to see during the 48 hour project, added Verbrugghe.
Verbrugghe said that Canon appreciates the high cost of some equipment is a hindrance to creativity, but over the course of the 48HFP, Canon will be offering camera loans, its check & clean service and cinematography workshops to the participants.
These services are all part of our Canon Professional Services (CPS) offering, which also includes priority repairs. CPS allows budding film-makers to go out and express their creativity without having to worry about the associated costs.
Canon is also sponsoring the prizes for the winners of the 48HFP. The overall winner’s prize is the Canon XC10, second prize is a Canon EOS 70D, and the third prize a Canon Legria MINI X.
