Dubai’s state broadcaster Dubai Channels Network (DCN) recently ordered Lawo VSM Broadcast Control and Monitoring System for two new OB vans. The system will be installed on redundantly designed servers, providing sophisticated and flexible, IP-based broadcast control and monitoring, integrating management of all on-board and external equipment within a single system.
VSM uses a TCP/IP backbone and offers maximum interoperability through the use of manufacturer-independent protocols, and controls all major brands and models of video and audio routers, video and audio mixers, intercoms, under-monitor displays (UMD) and multiviewers, as well as glue equipment and other third-party devices. User panels and interfaces can be configured without limitation to meet the requirements of different workflows and applications, while the whole system is under redundant control. Settings across the complete OB van can be stored and re-called by the push of a button. All this provides unmatched benefits in advanced workflow and simplified operation during productions.
DCN’s OB vans already house Lawos V__pro8 video processing units for embedding/de-embedding, frame-syncing, colour correction and other tasks, thus reducing valuable weight, rack-space and power requirements.
