Dubai Media Incorporated ( DMI ) has secured an international television distribution agreement with UK-based Racecourse Media Group (RMG) and Ascot Racecourse that will enable it to show British horseracing on through terrestrial, satellite and cable in the Middle East. The races will be broadcast on Dubai Sports Channel and Dubai Racing Channel and will be available in the UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen.
The four-year deal, which begins on January 1, 2013, will see DMI televise racing from the RMG-managed courses including Epsom, Newmarket, York, Goodwood, Sandown, Newbury and Haydock.
The agreement will also include covering Royal Ascot, QIPCO British Champions Day and the Betfair-sponsored King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (both from Ascot), the Investec Derby Festival (Epsom), the QIPCO Guineas Festival (Newmarket), Yorks Ebor Festival, Glorious Goodwood and many more of Britains leading Flat race meetings.
Ahmad Al Shaikh, managing director and director general of DMI said the deal will advance the popularity of British racing in many countries throughout the Middle East.
