Dubai Opera will present Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, Eugene Onegin, on February 20-21, 2025, performed by the National Theatre Brno Opera. This work by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, based on Alexander Pushkin’s novel-in-verse, explores themes of unfulfilled love, regret and fate.
The opera follows Tatyana, a young woman whose sincere love is rejected by the distant and prideful Eugene Onegin. Years later, Onegin realises his mistake, but it is too late for redemption. Tchaikovsky’s score and orchestration bring this tale to life, offering audiences a deeply immersive experience.
This production will be performed by the National Theatre Brno opera, orchestra and choir, featuring an internationally acclaimed cast. Dalibor Jenis stars as Eugene Onegin, with Linda Ballová as Tatyana, Peter Berger as Vladimir Lensky, Václava Krejčí Housková as Olga and Hungarian bass Kornél Mikecz as Zarecký.
Under the baton of conductor Robert Kružík and the direction of Martin Glaser, the production boasts set designs by Pavel Borák, costumes by Markéta Sládečková and lighting by Martin Špetlík.
