Hamlet from the Slums has received five different awards and grants.
Egypt’s Hamlet from the Slums producer Ahmed Amer to participate on the 2021 Rotterdam Lab (1- 5 February) held within the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), according to Egypt today.
Ahmed Amer has participated in the 4th edition of CineGouna SpringBoard, where Hamlet from the Slums received five different awards and grants.
The awards included a sponsorship by IEFTA to take part in one of its partner development labs or workshop, $20,000 from Shahid, $10,000 from Sparkle Media Services, the Film Independent and US Embassy Virtual Residency Award and the Khaled Bichara Award for Egyptian Independent Filmmakers.
Hamlet from the Slums tells the story of eighteen-year-old Ahmed, who lives in a Cairo slum under the threat of brutal urban renewal.
