Egyptian veteran actress Aida Kamel passed away on Monday at the age of 89 in a hospital in Cairo after a long struggle with illness.
Kamel had spent nearly three weeks in hospital after reporting health deterioration, reportedly for issues relating to the stomach and colon.
Kamel has appeared in over 120 TV, radio, cinema and theatre projects. The actress, who received multiple awards in her career, appeared in Sett El-Hosn, Raqset El-Wadae and Youssef Chahine’s acclaimed film Alexandria Why.
Her repertoire also houses a number of successful series such as Hawanem Garden City (Ladies of Garden City), El Les Alazy Ohebo (The Thief that I Love) among others.
