The new feature is under a French production with a multinational cast.
Egyptian director Omar El Zohairy will direct an English-language drama based on Western capitalism and family ties titled Mammals.
The film is being co-written by British-Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Adeeb, who wrote the Egyptian TV series, Bimbo.
El Zohairy is the first Egyptian director to win the Grand Prize at the International Critics’ Week competition for his debut Feathers at the 2021 Cannes Festival.
Mammals is set in a Japanese village and the inspiration behind its story is El Zohairy’s father, who died back in 2016 in the United States.
The film is produced by French producer Juliette Lepoutr through her Still Moving shingle, which also produced Feathers.
