Egyptian film Between Two Seas by filmmaker Anas Tolba will have its UAE premiere at the third edition of Sharjah Art Foundation‘s annual film festival Sharjah Film Platform which is scheduled to take place from November 14 to 21.
The film will premiere at Cinemacity IMAX, Zero 6 Mall, on Saturday, November 21, at 2:00 pm UAE time. The film will be screened with English subtitles.
Between Two Seas tells the story of Zahra who is on a short visit to her hometown, a small rural island near Cairo. An unexpected incident turns Zahra’s life upside down. Deciding not to give up, she fights to build a better life for herself and her community. The film sheds light on different societal issues faced by women, especially in rural areas. The film is based on a script by Amany El Tounsy and Karim El Dalil.
The film stars Fatma Adel, Yara Goubran, TharaaGoubail, Mahmoud Fares, Arfa Abdel Rassoul, and LobnaWanas.
It is produced by Axeer and executive produced by Abdelrahman Al Garwani.
The film was screened at several regional and international film festivals, including the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival in Palestine, Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan, Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, Aarhus Arab Film Festival in Denmark, Arab Film Festival Tübingen in Germany, and the Mostra de Valencia in Spain.
