For those looking to submit their original entries for the Emirates Film Competition(EFC) 2011, there is a little more time.
Filmmakers from the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar can hand in their submissions by 20 July, as the deadline has been extended to this date. In its 10th year now, EFC is among the first film competitions in the UAE.
Last year, it formally became a part of Abu Dhabi Film Festival(ADFF)s program. According to the ADFF website the event began with the aim of supporting film production in the Gulf region and quickly became the foremost platform for local and regional filmmakers to showcase and share their work and experiences.
Each year, the EFC has also offered workshops, screened international shorts and published books on important topics in filmmaking as well as profiles of prominent international filmmakers. From the outset, the event’s competition and prizes have been at the heart of building the UAE’s film culture and film industry, the website stated.
