Abbas wrote and directed his crime thriller “The Long Game” which was released this year.
Emirati filmmaker and director Mustafa Abbas’s film The Long Game has won Best Action/Crime Short award at London International Film Awards 2020. The film was directed and written by Abbas.
The film follows a former criminal whose plans of redeeming himself are shattered when his lover is brutally murdered, which sets him on the road to vengeance.
Noting his appreciation for the award, Abbas wrote: “Dear friends, I proudly inform you that we have won Best Action/Crime Short at the London Independent Film Awards! Congrats to the best team. Thank you.”
Abbas has a portfolio of films to his name. His last film Sunset State was screened in seven countries including the Dubai International Film Festival as well the short film corner at the Cannes Film Festival.
Abbas has also played a big part in developing the local film scene going back more than a decade.
He has contributed in not only writing, producing and directing films but also has been on the jury for festivals as well as competitions including the first-ever Nikon Film festival, and the Community Development Authority which is part of the Dubai Government.
