Mountain Boy is an adaptation of the internationally acclaimed Emirati children’s book, The Boy Who Knew The Mountains, by Dr Michele Ziolkowski, shedding light on neurodiversity. The film unfolds the extraordinary tale of Suhail, a young Emirati boy with Autism, challenging societal norms on a transformative journey through the mesmerising mountains of Fujairah, accompanied by his loyal companion, Barakah, the Arabian Saluki dog.
Shaheen added: “Mountain Boy is a dream realised. I am thrilled to amplify Emirati narratives and empower local talent through this cinematic journey. We’re not just telling a story; we’re inviting you on an immersive journey that we hope will linger in audience members’ hearts long after the credits roll.”
Beyond its narrative, Mountain Boy carries a profound message of inclusion, celebrating the diversity of the human experience and encouraging audiences to embrace the unique strengths of the neurodiverse community. The film’s mostly female production team mentored Emirati and Gulf Women Filmmakers, contributing to the development of the national skilled crew base.
Audiences attending the screening will have the opportunity to engage with the filmmakers and cast during an exclusive Q&A session, gaining insights into the making of Mountain Boy and the impactful themes it explores.
