The Middle Easts first radio station exclusively for children Pearl FM launched in Dubai today.
The 24-hour station will broadcast in English on 102 FM from Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children in Jumeirah.
A brainchild of radio veteran Jeff Price and Nick Watson, Pearl FM will broadcast children-focused programming including live shows with kids in hospitals. It targets children in the age-group of 6 to 12 years with programmes in English as well as some content in Arabic. An Arabic radio channel is set for launch t a later date by the same team.
Pearl FMs programming will include a morning show, a show of nursery rhymes for toddlers and babies, followed by a support network for parents. Other shows include the voices of many children in the afternoons along with a bedtime show for kids at 7pm.
With more than two decades of experience in the broadcast industry, Jeff Price was part of the launch line-up for the UAEs first commercial radio station, Channel 4 FM in 1997 and also helped set up Dubais Virgin Radio.
