Sky News Arabia, a joint venture between UK-based BSkyB and Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation (ADMIC), has contracted Television Systems Limited (TSL) to undertake the integration of a turnkey HD newsroom in Abu Dhabi, BroadcastPro ME has learnt.
The Abu Dhabi facility will be kitted out to run a 24/7 news channel, that is scheduled to launch in 2012.
Speaking about the venture, Bevan Gibson, Launch Technical Director for Sky NewsArabia told BroadcastPro ME that the channel will have operations across the Middle East and North Africa region.
We will have news bureaux across the Middle East. At the moment, our focus is to build a comprehensive HD facility in Abu Dhabi to run a 24/7 news channel, Gibson stated.
Only three systems integrators including TSL, Sony PSMEA and Qvest were short-listed to bid for the project.
