The AIFF's partners have granted awards, both in-kind and in cash, totaling $200,000 to the winners.
The Amman Film Industry Days (AFID), the industrial arm of the Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF), concluded its activities with the announcement of the winners from the pitching platforms.
Over the course of a six-day duration, the Amman Film Industry Days orchestrated a sequence of events that encompassed masterclasses, seminars, and discussions involving directors and industry experts. Additionally, there were one-on-one meetings as part of the Amman Projects Market.
Karim Jawad Ariqat’s film Idols in the City from Jordan has received an invitation from the Malmo Arab Film Festival to participate in the MAFF Industry Days 2024, representing a developing Jordanian film.
For a Jordanian film in development, Soon We Will All Be History Here, directed by Said Taji Farouki, was granted lighting and grip equipment rental services valued at $15,000 by Slate Productions.
Madness and Honey Days, directed by Ahmed Yassin Al Daradji, was presented with an in-kind award encompassing distribution and marketing strategy consultancy by NAAS Network. The awarded emerging producer of this film will also secure a place in the upcoming Beirut Locarno Academy.
Mariam Al-Dhubhani’s film Let’s Play Soldiers received a cash award of $5,000 from the Amman International Film Festival for its development.
The documentary Waiting For Geddo, directed by Kawthar Younes, was bestowed the in-kind award for packaging services valued at $10,000 by Creative Media Solutions.
Michelle Keserwany’s film Amara was honoured with a €5,000 cash award for its development from IEFTA.
Yazan Melhem’s Evacuation of Petra was granted a cash award of $5,000 from Lagoonie Film Production for its development or post-production phase.
Among the awarded projects in the Post-Production category were Zeina Sfeir’s The Silence of the Plain, Alex Bakri’s The Last Projectionist, and Mahmoud Al Massad’s Cinema Kawakeb.
The Amman Projects Market recognised outstanding works, including Idols in the City by Karim Jawad Ariqat, Framed by Amer Halasa, Soon We Will All Be History Here by Said Taji Farouki, The Last Projectionist by Alex Bakri, Amara by Michelle Keserwany, and more.
