The workshop will focus on the art and craft of storytelling from a cinematography perspective and will take place in Abu Dhabi from June 11-14, 2024.
Arab Film Studio and Film Independent, in partnership with the US Mission to the UAE, will organise an in-depth Cinematography Workshop in Abu Dhabi for aspiring cinematographers.
The course will take place in Abu Dhabi from June 11-14, 2024 from 10 am to 5 pm in Abu Dhabi, and it’s aimed for UAE nationals and residents only.
Leading experts from American industry, Film Independent, will present the four-day immersive workshop, which will be taught by William McDonald, Head of Cinematography in the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media at UCLA and facilitated by Paul Cowling, Associate Director of Education at Film Independent.
The workshop will focus on the art and craft of storytelling from a cinematography perspective. It will expose aspiring cinematographers to the fundamental tools and principles used by cinematographers to create compelling images generated from the context of the script.
The workshop will also cover the role of the cinematographer in the post-production process.
In addition to demonstrations of lighting and camera techniques, the workshop will provide instructions in current workflow practices, film analysis, and discussions on the creative collaboration with the director and their creative team including the production designer, costume designer, and other members of the camera and lighting departments (gaffer, grip) along with the importance of hiring a diverse crew.
