Christopher Nolan has come out strongly against the company’s decision to stream all of its films via HBO Max in 2021.
Christopher Nolan is reportedly still so incensed by Warner Bros’ decision to put its entire 2021 slate onto HBO Max at the same time as they’re being released theatrically that he is never going to work with the studio again.
According to a source for The Wall Street Journal, who told the publication, “After spending years as a top Warner Bros. director, Christopher Nolan, who wrote and directed last year’s Tenet, is unlikely to return to the studio with his next project, in part because he was disappointed with the studio’s hybrid distribution strategy for 2021.”
Publicly, it hadn’t been announced yet if Nolan had a post-Tenet project in the works at the studio, but considering how important the director has been to WB over the years, with most of his movies being critical and/or commercial powerhouses, it goes without saying that him leaving would be a huge blow for Warner Bros.
