Reel Palestine is an annual film festival that will feature a selection of alternative Palestinian films in the UAE at Warehouse 421, Abu Dhabi and Cinema Akil, Dubai.
Director Najwa Najjar’s feature film Between Heaven and Earth will open the seventh Reel Palestine Film Festival (January 22-30) in the UAE, while short film Give Up the Ghost by director Zain Duraie will also be part of this edition. Both films are distributed by MAD Solutions and slated to screen at Dubai-based independent art theatre Cinema Akil.

Between Heaven and Earth revolves around the divorce of a 30 something couple, Salma and Tamer, who have been married for the past five years and living in the Palestinian Territory. As Tamer is given a three-day permit to cross the checkpoint to file for divorce in the courts of Nazareth, the couple finds out a secret that will turn everything upside down.
