Shortlisted for the International Feature Film category of this year’s 93rd Academy Awards, The Man Who Sold His Skin, by Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania, tells the story of a Syrian refugee in Lebanon who allows his back to become a canvas for a famous tattoo artist. Soon, collectors become interested in this work of art.
Meanwhile, the short film I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face, by Egyptian filmmaker Sameh Alaa, was awarded a Palme d’Or at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of Adam who, after being separated from his love for 82 days, travels down a rough road to be reunited with them, whatever it takes.
