The film's journey will be over the span of 12 days from Mecca to Medina.
The filming of the documentary The Migration Trail began by following the footsteps of the beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him (PBUH), as Dr Badr Alshibani travels on-foot from Mecca to Medina to introduce the Saudi heritage and its importance, document wildlife, and present a challenging yet enjoyable adventure.
Alshibani will present an experience to address the knowledge gap on the subject of the Prophet Muhammad’s PBUH migration, shedding light on the heritage of the Arabian Peninsula by documenting all stages of the journey, in addition to the migration trail where all events and memories took place.
Speaking about the documentary, Producer of the documentary, Roaa Almadani, said: “I am happy to be part of a film documenting the heritage through a 550 kilometres walk in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad’s PBUH migration from Mecca to Medina. Dr Badr and I are both from Medina, and we really value it, therefore we want to show the world the beauty of its deeply rooted heritage. The film is a great spiritual adventure, during which we will pass through many authentic Saudi sites such as Asfan Castle, then the valleys of Al-Hamdah, Al-Halaqa and Reem, all the way to Quba and then Medina. I expect the film to participate in many film festivals due to its different idea and its great importance. The film is a series of upcoming works in which I will participate with. During the year, I will present another documentary film, two feature films, and a TV series.”
Executive producer, Ahmed Elsegini, added: “The idea of the film is distinctive, especially as we present it in an adventurous light through two heroes who try to follow in the footsteps of the beloved prophet Muhammed PBUH from Mecca to Medina, to reveal to the audience the very same path and the efforts made to climb mountains and live in the wilderness. The film’s journey will be over the span of 12 days and I hope to present something honourable for the public. Saudi Arabia is going through a great artistic renaissance, and I am very happy with the cooperation between Egyptian and Saudi companies in the artistic field.”
While the film’s director, Sherif Bassiouni, commented: “The film is a different experience for me, to make a film that follows the migration of prophet Muhammed PBUH. The film is an adventure that bears a lot of information and suspense to present to the audience, and I am very happy with the Egyptian-Saudi cooperation, and I hope that we will present something special and of great value.”
