Film director, James Cameron, will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Ocean Filmmaking, at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Event, co-sponsored by Fujifilm Corporation, Optical Devices Division.
The film festival, which assembles filmmakers, scientists and environmentalists from all over the world, will take place 24-30 September at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
Cameron was chosen for the award because of his dedication to exploring his passion for diving and deep sea within his film work, with films such as Titanic, Ghosts of the Abyss, and Expedition: Bismark. He has also used lenses from the Fujinon HA Series of high-performance, 2/3-inch HDTV portable lenses, in a great deal of his work.
Besides Fujinon, other BLUE Ocean Film Festival sponsors include Google Earth, Disney Nature, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Codeblue Foundation, which funds marine conservation efforts, and OceanGate, which organises marine expeditions.
