MAD Solutions has sent four films from its distribution slate to compete at the 28th edition of the Cinemas Du Sud Festival, which will take place at the Institut Lumière in Lyon from April 5 to 8.
Four films from MAD Solutions’ distribution slate — Alam by Firas Khoury, Life Suits Me Well by Al Hadi Ulad-Mohand, The Life After by Anis Djaad, and Daughters of Abdulrahman by Zaid Abu Hamdan — will screen at the festival in the presence of the directors.
First on the roster is Alam by Firas Khoury, which will screen on April 6 at 6:15 pm.
Alam — starring Mahmood Bakri, Sereen Khass, Saleh Bakri, Mohammad Karaki, Ahmad Zaghmouri, and Muhammad Abed Elrahman — follows the story of a Palestinian teenager named Tamer.
Life Suits Me Well by Al Hadi Ulad-Mohand will screen on April 7 at 9:00 pm.
Produced by Kasbah Films (Karim Debbagh), Life Suits Me Well — which stars Samir Guesmi, Lubna Azabal, Sayyid El-Alami, and Jalal Quarrioua — takes place in the mid-1990s.
The film follows Fouad who is the only employee at the local post office in a small town in northern Morocco. After he is diagnosed with a neurological disease, Fouad, his wife, and their children embark on a new chapter in their lives.
On April 7, Daughters of Abdulrahman by Zaid Abu Hamdan will screen at 3:30 pm.
Written and directed by Zaid Abu Hamdan, Daughters of Abdulrahman stars Saba Mubarak, Farah Bsaiso, Hanan Al-Hilo, Mariam Al-Basha, and Khalid Al-Tarifi.
The film follows the story of Zainab, who wakes up to a shocking discovery that could defame her in the neighbourhood. She quickly calls for her sister Amaal’s aid. However, fiery Amaal has her own problems with their other sister Samah – who is too busy to be there – while Khitam, the fourth sister, is busy with her own goals in life.
The Life After by Anis Djaad will screen on April 8th at 2:30 pm.
Written and directed by Djaad, The Life After follows the story of a cleaner named Hajar and her son Jamil, who are forced to move from one village to another to escape rumours about her.
A story of misery and survival then unfolds as Hajar fights to protect herself and her son from the criminals who inhabit the city they live in.
Starring Lydia Larini, Ahmed Belmoumane, Djemel Barek, and Samir El-Hakim, The Life After is produced by Alegria Production (Moncef Delici).
