The Embassy of France and Institut Français in the UAE will host the francOfilms Festival, which will run from March 23-29 at VOX Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates. The event will celebrate francophony days in the UAE on the silver screen among others festivities as part of March, Francophone month.
The francOfilms Festival organised in Dubai, in association with the Dubai International Film Festival, with the support of Givenchy perfume, TV5 Monde, Air France, Alliance Française and Le Mag du Golfe, will showcase the best of international cinema throughout the week.
HE Alain Azouaou, Ambassador of France to the UAE, said: The francOfilms Festival is a wonderful opportunity for audiences in the UAE to come out and enjoy a unique and compelling line-up of films. The United Arab Emirates is an eminent observer of the Organisation International de la Francophonie and its important that we celebrate the French language through this cultural event, French being the language of arts and culture. Films from Belgium, Canada, France, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, and Switzerland will be offered at a discounted price to filmgoers in Dubaï and Abu Dhabi.
A delight for film buffs, francOfilms festival will include among others, the GCC Premiere of the megahit Asterix & Obelix : God save Britannia, the classic Egyptian film The Hunger, multiple-award winners The Giants from Belgium and The Little Room, the innovative Lebanese Rocket Society, the poetic Wind Horse from Morocco and Oscar nominees Mister Lazhar and The Illusionist.
