The New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi has established a world-class film school that has become an educational centre for the rapidly growing film industry in the region. This year they will host comprehensive film production workshops within the Gulf Film Market open for university students covering all aspects of filmmaking. On Sunday, April 14 the New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi will run a workshop in producing your short film which will cover all aspects of producing a short from pre-production through to distribution. The second workshop on Monday, 15 April will focus on directing actors and the essential principles of the actor training process, how to work with and inspire actors both in rehearsal and on set. This workshop will develop activities that will inspire filmmakers as to use their most powerful resource, the actor.
Samr AL Marzooqi, Dubai Film Market Manager, Gulf Film Festival, said:
We are thrilled to have the New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi on board who like the GFF remain committed to developing the film industry in the region. Our partnership with the New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi is an example of the great relationships we have with industry leaders that we develop every year to insure GCC filmmakers are meeting and learning from the best. We are thankful for their support and bringing such high caliber professionals from around the world to the GFF who have such passion for communicating their knowledge and mentoring aspiring filmmakers and actors.
Imad DeirAtany, Managing Director, New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi, said: The Gulf Film Festival is one of the greatest platforms to support the aspiring filmmakers and talents. We cant teach Talent but we can teach the skills and create the environment to let it grow. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with GFF every year for continues collaboration, hand by hand, to support building a new generation of filmmakers and actors. The winners will write, shoot, direct and edit 3 of their own short films during one month and that reflects our mission to balance the study of the art form with practical experience.
In addition to hands-on filmmaking workshops, the New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi will award two promising filmmakers with a four-week scholarship programme for Filmmaking at the Academy from September, 2013. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 17 during the closing awards ceremony.
