Harris celebrates expansion of operations in Dubai

Harris Corporation formally celebrated the expansion of its broadcast office in Dubai Media City today at a press conference on October 12. More than 30 staff from the company’s Middle East and South Asia (MESA) operations attended the event. The office was formally opened by Mohammed Abdullah, Managing Director, Media Cluster, TECOM Investments.

The regional office in Dubai has been expanded to support Harris MESA’s growing business in the region as well as to offer adequate after sales support to clients. It is one of three Harris operations supporting a broad range of customers throughout the region.

Richard Scott, senior VP of global sales and services, Broadcast Division, Harris added that the company had recruited about 11 people for the region in the last 12 months and was looking to recruit more.

“We’re looking for people in sales in various parts of the region as well as service engineers, pre sales people and solution architects — people skilled in the area of workflow and software integration. These are all skills that we are looking for within the region,” he added.

The recently enlarged Harris Broadcast Communications office facility will house the service and support members of the MESA team, which will work alongside the newly formed regional solutions group that is responsible for managing larger, integrated broadcast projects across the region.  

“Harris first established its Middle East Broadcast operations in Dubai in 2006, and has seen its annual business grow exponentially across the region,” said Harris Morris, president, Harris Broadcast Communications. 

“Expanding our presence enables us to develop closer relationships with customers and engineering teams, ensuring faster local service and support and helping customers optimise their successes.”

Harris recently secured several contracts in the region, including significant orders from Turkmenistan TV, Sky News Arabia and STV Orissa.
