Harris Corporation, a US-based international communications and information technology company, has sped up the content workflow at Khabar Bharti, a new 24-hour regional news channel in India.
The channel reaches more than 30 million homes nearly a 50 percent market share in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The news channel opted for the integrated Harris digital newsroom and play-out solution to support efficient, file-based workflows that accelerate time-to-air for broadcasters dramatically reducing costs associated with content acquisition, production, distribution and media management.
We see a huge benefit in working with a single broadcast manufacturer like Harris to complete our entire news workflow, from ingest to play-out and everything in-between, said Neeraj Singh Chauhan, founder-director, Creo Communications and chief technical consultant at the Khabar Bharti channel. This complete, integrated file-based workflow solution provides cost-effective, yet powerful technology across the entire news production workflow chain to support our business needs. The Harris technical support team based in Noida, India, alongside Nixon Technologies provided fast and effective implementation to meet our tight on-air dates.
The Khabar Bharti facility is built around the Harris NewsForce HD/SD news platform. The integrated Harris MOS Playlist Manager offers exceptional play-to-air control for news and production, driving Harris NEXIO AMP server channels to play stories to air with speed and efficiency. Additionally, NEXIO low-resolution browse software enables journalists to preview and edit low-resolution clips without needing a complicated storage and management solution.
Broadcasters are seeking integrated solutions as they migrate to file-based environments, where all content is stored, processed and transferred as digital data, said Harris Morris, president, Harris Broadcast Communications. Khabar Bharti showcases how digital broadcast news facilities can better streamline workflow processes and optimise success.
