In celebration of World Internet Day HISPASAT announced the three finalists of the “#enREDatupueblo” contest, sponsored by the operator with the aim to help bridge the digital divide and encourage the use of satellites as a technological alternative to bring broadband connectivity to remote or sparsely populated areas of Spain.
The projects presented by the residents of Aracena (Huelva), Magaña (Soria) and Valle de Manzanedo (Burgos) were preselected by the telecommunication operator to vie for the prize of free Internet connection at 30 Mbps via satellite for one year.
To participate in the contest, the towns had to meet the requirements established in the terms and conditions and submit an original proposal, either physically or digitally, that explains the improvements that satellite connectivity will bring to different aspects of their life and the town’s activities. The creative works have been assessed based on the quality of the works received, the support and involvement of the town’s residents and their reasons for needing a digital connection.
The winner of this unique contest will be chosen by popular vote through the ?Conéctate” project website www.hispasatconectate.es, where, from until 27 May, anyone can vote for their favourite proposal. The final decision will be announced on 29 May.
