International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that television ratings for the ongoing 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh are expected to exceed previous figures for an international cricketing event.
Star Sports, ICCs global media rights partner and host broadcaster, has a potential reach of more than 1.8 bn viewers through tie ups with 29 broadcasters showing live footage around the world.
OSN is broadcasting matches across the Middle East and North Africa. Star is covering South Asia; Fox and Sky TV are covering Australia and New Zealand respectively; Sky is reaching cricket fans in the UK and Ireland; and Eurosport is providing footage for all other European viewers. ESPN is televising the event in the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Speakers of 20 different languages are receiving TV coverage of the event, which began on 16 March and will continue until April 6.
