Emirati action film Al Kameen (The Ambush), a co-production between AGC International and Image Nation Abu Dhabi, is to be re-released in the UAE to mark the country’s 51st National Day.
The film, directed by Pierre Morel (Taken), was released in 2021 across 185 screens and is officially the UAE’s highest-grossing Arabic-language film.
Starring an all-Emirati lead cast, including Omar Bin Haider, Marwan Abdulla Saleh, Mohammed Ahmed, Mansoor Alfeeli, and Khalifa Albahri, Al Kameen follows the story of three UAE soldiers desperately awaiting salvation when their armoured vehicle is attacked by heavy enemy gunfire and becomes trapped in a remote canyon. Their only hope is a daring rescue mission plotted by their courageous commander.
Al Kameen (The Ambush) was written by Brandon Birtell (Furious 7) and Kurtis Birtell (Medal of Honour) in close consultation with the soldiers involved in the real-life 2018 incident that inspired the plot.
According to the producers, more than 400 cast and crew members were involved in Al Kameen, which was filmed entirely in the UAE, making it the largest-ever Arabic-language feature film production in the GCC.
The film will screen in Vox Cinemas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Al Ain from December 1 to 7.
