Global cinema operator, Cinépolis, which has operations in the Americas, the US, Europe and India, has finally made an entry into the GCC with its first multiplex launch in Bahrain on 31 January. The multiplex at Atrium Mall, Saar, features big-screen technology, family-focused screenings and F&B options.
Ashish Shukla, CEO of Cinépolis Gulf, had announced the launch late last year at the MENA Cinema Forum, where he claimed this family-owned chain enjoyed the world’s second largest footfall.
Speaking about the launch, Shukla said: The launch is a proud moment for the brand and we are honoured to bring our world-class cinema to the region. We know how much the community in Bahrain and KSA loves movies, and we are relishing the opportunity to present a premium cinema experience that can be enjoyed by all. Our location just off the Causeway will prove convenient for Bahrainis and Saudis alike, and we hope we can become a central part of the community for all.
The newly launched Cinépolis multiplex features 13-screens, including Bahrains first-ever kids’ theatre and 4D experience, as well as two large-format screens, MacroXE with Dolby Atmos, object-based sound, and a range of seating options.
