Grant applications for foreign productions to be made in Israel in 2022 will be accepted until August 22, 2022.
Israel has announced a new tax rebate worth $13m that will reimburse production expenses of up to 30% for foreign productions of films and series in Israel.
Fund for the Promotion of Foreign Productions, which was introduced via a government directive, is worth around $6.7m in the first year, and $6.4m in the second year.
The incentive is underpinned by Israel’s ministries of finance, culture and sports, economy and industry, foreign affairs and tourism.
The measure lasts two years with the submission process currently open until August 22. Applications must be made through an Israeli production company and applications will be considered by a committee.
The ministries are also offering a further 10% on top for post-production and animation. They are also working in cooperation with the organisations that represent leading international production companies, in order to encourage the submission of applications for grants and to expand the circle of companies operating and filming in Israel.
“Israel has many advantages in the motion picture industry, including geographic proximity between various landscapes, comfortable weather, unique and historical film locations, a good infrastructure of production facilities and services, efficient service systems, skilled professionals and an available pool of film school alumni, and therefore can serve as a hub for the production of foreign films and TV series,” reads the directive.
