As we have seen through the success of the first two seasons of Fighting Fit Dubai, there has always been an appetite for compelling content that showcases the emirate and its residents, said Phil Griffiths, Director of Fighting Fit Dubai and Co-Founder of Nomad Productions.
Also, during recent years, the way our viewers consume entertainment has undergone a sea-change. They expect convenience and flexibility and our partnership with ESPN.com has not only given us an international stage for Season 3 of Fighting Fit Dubai, but also allows us to reach our fans and followers in a way that simply makes sense to them.
Conceptualised, filmed and produced entirely in the UAE, the show follows a diverse group of UAE residents between the ages of 25-57, as they train in the art of boxing over six weeks for the chance to compete for glory and to be named Fighting Fit Dubai Champions on one final Fight Night. From trials, two teams of six people and 12 reserves will be selected, with teams facing weekly challenges and showdowns in the ring, not only fighting for glory but for their chance to stay in the show. With applications still open online until 24th February, producers are also expecting the cast of the shows third season to be its most diverse yet.
The appeal of Fighting Fit Dubai lies in the depth and humanity of our storylines as well as the diversity of experience of those who take on this challenge, added Griffiths. We have seen first-hand the positive impact the show has had on contestants from the first two seasons, and while we have always had an equal split of men and women, we want more than ever this year, as we open up the show to a wider audience through ESPN.com, to share the diversity of Dubai with the world.
Along with ESPN.com, Fighting Fit Dubai has also attracted a new range of sponsors including global sports apparel giant, adidas; Fuel-Up by Kcal, the first meal prep company in the UAE dedicated to the performance and physique focused; as well as pain management brand, adol. All boxing gear, including footwear, apparel, gloves, and punching bags will be been fitted out by adidas Combat Sports, courtesy of Direct Trading, the sole distributor of adidas Combat Sports and martial arts in the GCC, and available for purchase at Go Sport, the official adidas fight retailer.
The third season of the series will again see a legion of elite trainers and mentors, including Dan Costello, Waleed Dynamite Din and Joe Ackery, oversee contestant training which will include general fitness and boxing and ultimately, the transformation of the competitors from aspirants to contenders.
Potential contestants have only until 24th February to sign up. Season three of Fighting Fit Dubai will premiere on ESPN.com (www.ESPN.com/FightingFitDubai) on March 17, 2019.
