Filmmakers are invited to submit their scripts for the second IWC Filmmaker Award from May 1, 2013 until 31 August 2013 at www.dubaifilmfest.com. The award offers a cash prize of USD 100,000.
IWC Schaffhausen is the official Festival-Time partner of the GFF and the DIFF for the third consecutive year this time.
Three submissions will be shortlisted by an independent jury in October before IWC will present the award to its selected winner during the 10th Dubai International Film Festival.
Under the partnership, the Swiss watch manufacturer will present the Gulf Film Festivals Honouree Kuwaiti stage and film actor, writer and arts administrator Mohammed Jaber, a fixture of the artistic scene in Kuwait and the wider GCC for over 50 years, with an IWC Portuguese Hand-Wound in a stainless-steel case with a black dial.
Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of Gulf Film Festival said: The IWC Filmmaker Award is fundamental in ensuring ambitious and talented Gulf filmmakers have the opportunity and resources they need to develop high quality, creatively-driven projects to further build on the future success of film in the GCC. Last year we received scripts of an incredible standard and we are delighted to open submissions for this award for the second year which truly celebrates the most original, intelligent and distinctive filmmaking in the region.
Karoline Huber, IWC Director of Marketing and Communications, added: It gives us great pleasure to be the Official Festival-Time Partner of the GFF for the third consecutive year, re-emphasising IWCs commitment to the film industry. The worlds of film and fine watchmaking have a lot in common: both are based on a long tradition, both draw on pioneering spirit and passion, and both use their skill and expertise to create a stream of new masterpieces.
