Kung Fu Yoga, Jackie Chans latest international blockbuster releases today in US and UAE cinemas. The movie includes scenes that were filmed in the emirate in 2016, making it Chans first movie filmed in the Middle East.
The film, directed by Stanley Tong and featuring Bollywood star Disha Patani, is the first project under India and Chinas co-production agreement. The production filmed in Dubai for thirty days by using talented pool of local crew members.
Commenting, Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission said: We are excited to watch Dubai featured again in a Hollywoods blockbusters. The filming of Kung Fu Yoga in The Emirate follows a series of who have selected Dubai as their filming location last year, including Welcome Back and Star Trek.
The film will not only showcase Dubais iconic landmarks and attractions to a global audience, but will also promote the Dubai position as a leading international hub for filming.
A series of car chase sequences were shot in Downtown Dubai, showcasing Dubai’s skyline and luxury attractions, as well as its world-class infrastructure, roads and bridges.
DFTC has been collaborating with many government and private entities in Dubai to ensure filming of this huge blockbuster is done according to international standards from safety and security perspectives. These include, RTA, the General Administration of Civil Defence, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and Dubai Police Traffic Department.
Senior Lieutenant Ahmad Mahdi Rahma from Event’s Security Committee in Dubai Police, said: We have been working closely with DFTC as well as all other related entities and making site visits to all the locations prior to filming in Dubai to identify all security needs.

Speaking about RTAs support of the for Kong Fu Yoga filming in Dubai, Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications, RTA, said: Our plan is focused on providing the facilities required for shooting. RTAs support to the filming crew also covered other areas in the city as well as several roads and internal street. We have therefore charted out a precise plan for working in these places during the filming process in collaboration with the Dubai Police General HQ.
Kung Fu Yoga is being released in the UAE on 2nd February 2017.
