Israeli director Guy Nattiv’s biopic 'Golda' will open the 40th edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival on July 13.
Jerusalem Film Festival has selected 17 Israeli films for competition for its feature and documentary sections. The festival will take place from July 13-23, marking its 40th edition.
The film festival will screen more than 200 films from 50 countries including the top Israeli films of the year and winners from the Berlinale, Cannes, Venice and Sundance festivals.
Israeli director Guy Nattiv’s Golda is set to open the 40th edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival. The festival will close on July 23 with the French thriller ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, directed by Justine Triet.
The opening screening will be held at the Sultan’s Pool Amphitheater with an audience of about six thousand in attendance.
Titles among nine in the full-length Israeli feature films competition include A Room Of His Own, directed by Matan Yair, The Future, by filmmaker Noam Kaplan, Maayan Ryppm’s The Other Widow, Under The Shadow Of The Sun, directed by Shalom Hager, and Daniel Auerbach, directed by David Volach, among others.
The feature-length Israeli documentary competition includes Sharon Yaish and Golan Rise’s Giado – Holocaust In The Desert, Rafael Balulu’s The Family Of Spies, The Three Of Us, by Henya Brodbeker, Sharif Shanti: Murder Case, by Avida Livny, and Prisoner X, directed by Hilla Medalia, Amos Roberts, among others.
The festival will also feature competitions for short films, movies by high-school students and video shorts.
Under the auspices of the Jerusalem Cinematheque, the Israel Film Archive has digitally restored Amazing Grace (1992), directed by Amos Guttman and which tells the story of a relationship between two gay men, one of whom has HIV.
Several new prizes will be awarded this year, including the Ensemble Prize in the feature competition, which will be awarded to the film with the most impressive cast.
