The festival will close on July 23 with the French thriller 'Anatomy of a Fall', directed by Justine Triet.
Israeli director Guy Nattiv’s Golda is set to open the 40th edition of the Jerusalem Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place from July 13-23.
The opening screening will be held at the Sultan’s Pool Amphitheater with an audience of about six thousand in attendance.
Golda, which world premiered at the Berlinale 2023 in February, will be released in Israel by United King Films following its premiere at the film festival.
The film explores Golda Meir’s life, character and achievements as Israel’s first and only female prime minister, through her handling of the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
The film features Helen Mirren, Lior Ashkenazi, Rami Heuberger, Dvir Benedek, Rotem Keinan and Ohad Knoller.
Justine Triet’s Cannes 2023 Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall will be the closing Jerusalem Film Festival on July 23.
The film follows a German writer, played by Sandra Hüller, who is caught in the crosshairs of the French justice system as a potential murder suspect when her husband is found dead after a fall from the upper floor of their remote mountain chalet, with their visually impaired young son called to the stand as a witness.
The film festival will screen more than 200 films from 50 countries including the top Israeli films of the year and winners from the Berlinale, Cannes, Venice and Sundance festivals.
