In her new role, Al-Rashed will spearhead the development of both the Red Sea Film Festival and the foundation.
The Red Sea International Film Festival has appointed Dr Jomana Rashid Al-Rashed as the Chairwoman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Al-Rashed is the CEO of Saudi Research and Media Group, a KSA-based integrated publishing company that distributes various publications, including Asharq Al-Awsat and Arab News.
She holds a master’s degree in International Journalism from the City University of London and received her bachelor’s in political science from SOAS University in London.
Al-Rashed also worked for Al Riyadh newspaper, as its London correspondent, before being posted as a senior aide and adviser for media relations to the Saudi ambassador to the UK.
She then moved back to the Kingdom and began to work as a media advisor, before being appointed as a board member and CEO of SRMG in 2020.
Al-Rashed is currently undertaking the digital transformation of SRMG in alignment with Vision 2030.
In an Instagram post, RedSeaIFF wrote: “Alrashid’s appointment is aimed at further enhancing the growth and development of the film industry ecosystem in Saudi Arabia. Through her new role and responsibilities, she will spearhead the development of both the Red Sea Film Festival and Foundation, while encouraging young, creative Saudi talent to be further recognised, appreciated, and valued for the things that truly make them special and unique.”
This year’s second edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival will run from December 1-10 in Jeddah.
