The network reportedly used online platforms extensively during Ramadan in addition to the linear TV platform. The online platforms included YouTube, mobile apps and the official website of the channel to livestream a lineup of original shows.
Roya TV’s programming team allowed viewers to participate in some of the online shows. The game show Ikhsar Wa Irba7 (Lose & Win), that allows viewers to compete for money, saw a surge in online viewership with Android screen views showing an increase of 142%.
According to a company source, the increase in website video views from the 2017 Ramadan period to 2018 rose exponentially by 2172%.
