Kuma Studios produce the series for Keshet Broadcasting, who ordered the second season.
Keshet Broadcasting has ordered a second season of A Body That Works (Goof Shlishi), Israel’s top-rated drama of 2023, produced by Kuma Studios for Keshet 12.
Co-created by Shira Hadad, Dror Mishani, and Shay Capon, the acclaimed relationship drama stars Rotem Sela and Yehuda Levi as a couple navigating parenthood with the help of a surrogate, portrayed by Gal Malka, alongside love interest Lior Raz.
The upcoming season will continue the story of Ido (Yehuda Levi) and Ellie (Rotem Sela) as they co-parent their son following his birth by surrogate Chen (Gal Malka). The new season, comprising six episodes, will delve into the couple’s struggles and decisions regarding expanding their family. Season two will reunite the original cast, including all four internationally recognised Israeli stars, and will be directed by Shay Capon, with Shira Margalit and Elad Koperman serving as executive producers.
Karni Ziv, Head of Drama and Comedy at Keshet Broadcasting, said: “I am so happy to be bringing this touching relationship drama about parenthood back to Keshet 12 screens with the help of Kuma Studios. Shira, Dror, and Shay’s original series of A Body That Works captivated Israeli hearts because it is steeped in love and imbued with a human touch, and its witty, fast-paced rhythm kept them entertained to the end. It is early days, but season two is looking even better!”
Kelly Wright, Keshet International’s MD of Distribution, added: “We are thrilled to be announcing this reorder a year after we originally launched A Body That Works to buyers at last year’s London TV Screenings. Charting one couple’s captivating journey to parenthood, this beautifully crafted series had all of Israel buzzing with each new episode, and like everyone else, I can’t wait to find out what happens next!”
A Body That Works made waves in Israel with its debut season, sparking a national conversation about fertility, family, and women’s autonomy. It garnered critical acclaim and awards, including Best Actress honours for Rotem Sela and Gal Malka at Series Mania 2023.
The series has been sold to 92 territories worldwide, with platforms such as Netflix, AMC Networks International, CBC, and SBS securing distribution rights. Keshet International is actively developing the series for the UK and global markets, with plans for further expansion.
In addition to A Body That Works, Keshet International’s drama pipeline includes highly anticipated titles such as The Best Worst Thing, Trust No One, and the second season of Line in the Sand.
Keshet 12’s upcoming slate features a diverse range of Israeli dramas, with more announcements expected at the 2024 London TV Screenings. Among the highlights are the action thriller Conflict and the documentary series Earthbound, narrated and executive produced by Orlando Bloom.
