The Kuwaiti film Amakor, directed by Ahmad Al-Khudari, took centre stage at the 12th edition of Morocco’s Dakhla International Film Festival, according to a report by Kuwait News Agency.
The film tells the story of a famous social media influencer who, after suffering an accident that causes memory loss, struggles to continue his work and encounters numerous challenges.
In a statement to KUNA, Zine El-Abidine Charafeddine, president of the festival, expressed honour in featuring movies from the Gulf, particularly Kuwait and the UAE, at this year’s event. “The festival was a great platform to introduce Moroccan and African viewers to Gulf cinema and specifically Kuwaiti cinema through the movie Amakor by Kuwaiti director Ahmad Al-Khudari, which drew significant attention from the public and critics,” he said.
Produced by Ahmad Al-Khudari and written and directed by Mohammad AlMuhaiteeb, Amakor features Abdullah Al-Tararwah, Khaled Ameen, Samah, Hassan Abdal, and Hussain Sherazi. The film has received wide acclaim at both Arab and international festivals.
