Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) recently undertook a major upgrade at its Beirut facility to streamline its workflow and facilitate programming delivery across multiple platforms. The bulk of the equipment was provided by Harris and the project was implemented by local dealer Orbinet.
A 128×128 Platinum router with integrated CENTRIO multiviewer, six NEXIO AMP servers, a NEXIO media gateway server, Videotek VTM test and measurement equipment and three Inscriber RTX NET 2D/3D custom on-air graphics systems solutions were provided for the project. In addition, two NUCLEUS control panels and CCS Navigator software provide network monitoring, device configuration and various levels of control and monitoring for the broadcaster, unifying and streamlining its infrastructure operation.
"This upgrade allows LBCI to continue to deliver quality programming and content to our customers in the region, not only on traditional delivery platforms such as television, but also on non-traditional delivery platforms such as the Internet and mobile devices," commented Jihad Hachem, director of broadcast and production operation at LBCI.
"We have been using Harris ADC automation software for a number of years to handle file-based workflows around our facility. Harris was able to provide us with a truly integrated software and hardware solution for this facility, so the choice of Harris infrastructure to support this upgrade project was an easy one to make."
Speaking about the project, Said Bacho, vice president of Harris Middle East and South Asia (MESA) commented that the contract was a huge win for the company as LBCI had shifted to Harris servers in its entirety.
"LBCI has been one of the oldest Seachange customers in the Middle East so the switch to Harris servers was a huge win for us," commented Bacho.
"We have also strengthened our support and service offerings in the region," he added.
