In the first edition of RedSeaIFF, Abirached hosted the closing ceremony.
Lebanese journalist and TV presenter Raya Abirached hosted the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which runs from December 1 to 10 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Previously, Abirached hosted the closing ceremony of the RedSeaIFF’s first edition. She also hosted the 10th Dubai International Film Festival’s opening and closing ceremonies in 2013 and the opening ceremony of the second edition of the El-Gouna Film Festival in 2018.
Abirached cemented her name as one of the most successful TV personalities in the Arab world, boasting over 15 years of experience as a TV presenter, producer, writer, and researcher.
She is most known for her TV programme Scoop with Raya — which airs on MBC 2 — in which she interviews Hollywood stars and gets access to the most sought-after behind-the-scenes sets of films and TV series. She also co-hosts the TV talent show Arabs Got Talent, which also airs on MBC.
In 2019, she won the fifth edition of the Arab Women of the Year Award for Achievement in Television in London in recognition of her contributions to Arab and international entertainment media and Nickelodeon Arabia’s Favorite TV Personality of the Year.
Furthermore, Abirached lent her voice to the Arabic versions of some of the most famous animated films, such as The Angry Birds Movie, Angry Birds 2, Smurfs: The Lost Village, and Spies in Disguise.
Raya has also served as a brand ambassador for many international brands and was appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as a Goodwill Ambassador in the MENA region in 2021.
