'Dune: Part Two' continues Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 novel, picking up where its predecessor left off.
Five local UAE interns had the opportunity to gain international production experience during the filming of Dune: Part Two in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa desert. From roles in VFX to camera assistance, these talented individuals secured internship placements on set for the 27-day shoot through the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, highlighting the Commission’s commitment to nurturing young talent in the screen industry.
The video asset, shot by Legendary and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., showcases the experiences of Mouza Al Darmaki, Thoraya Farzaneh, Khaled Al Hosani, Amna Al Darmaki, and Ghena Al Satti.
Set in the distant future, Dune: Part Two utilises the sweeping sand dunes of Abu Dhabi’s Liwa desert as the backdrop for the iconic desert planet Arrakis. Filming took place at nearly 20 locations across the Liwa desert during the winter of 2022, employing a team of 300 local crew, 250 international crew, and 500 extras.
Dune: Part Two serves as the continuation of Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune, featuring a star-studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and many more. Directed by Villeneuve and produced by an esteemed team, the film promises to captivate audiences with its immersive storytelling.
In the UAE and Lebanon, the epic continuation of the Dune saga premiered in cinemas on 29 February 2024, with other markets in the region set for an Eid release on 11 April. To ensure fans across the Middle East can experience the sequel promptly, a special week of previews will be available in markets outside the UAE and Lebanon from 29 February to 6 March 2024.
