All the films will be screened at Dendy Newton Cinema from June 2 to 4.
MAD Solutions has sent three films from its distribution slate to the Qumra Arab Film Festival 2023 in Australia. The film festival will take place from June 2 to 4.
The lineup includes Wisam Al-Jafari’s By the Sea, May Ziady’s Light Blue, and Dessil Mekhtigian’s From the Work of the Devil. The film will be screened at Dendy Newton Cinema.
Wisam Al-Jafari’s By the Sea, which. premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival and Malmö Arab Film Festival, will be screening on June 2 at 6:30 PM.
The film follows the comical story of Nahid, who’s trying to celebrate her fugitive husband’s birthday by finding the ingredients necessary to bake him a birthday cake.
Light Blue, which is directed by May Ziady, who co-wrote it with Ahmed Atik, will be shown on June 3 at 7 PM.
The film features a woman in her early 30s who is plagued by dreams in which she reflects on her relationships with her mother, father, and lover. Through her dreams, we see how her subconscious views these connections and the psychological traumas that they left behind.
Dessil Mekhtigina’s From the Work of the Devil, which screened at the Cairo International Film Festival, will screen on June 4 at 4 PM.
The film follows the journey of a young Armenian Egyptian girl who spent her childhood in the Armenian community in Egypt. After a decade in France, she returns to her homeland to curate an exhibition featuring the works of talented Armenian photographers, however, she finds herself caught in a conflict between her Egyptian culture and her Armenian heritage.
