Directed and written by Salma Murad, the short film stars Naif AlDaferi and Nawwaf AlDaferi.
Salma Murad’s short film Matchstick won Best First Work and a cash award of SAR 30,000 ($7999.06) during the closing ceremony of the ninth Saudi Film Festival.
Matchstick (Kabreet) follows the story of Osama — a young man caught in a quarrel between his emotions and memory as he tries to find a thread leading to answers.
He tries to awaken the part of himself that gives him reason, but his reasoning is brutal, maybe even abusive.
The film, which premiered at the second edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, was directed and written by Salma Murad, starred Naif Al-Daferi and Nawwaf Al-Daferi, and produced by Bayan Jamal and Noura Alimam.
MAD Solutions is handling the film’s distribution and sales worldwide.
