In a collaborative effort, King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, known as Mawhiba, have joined forces with the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture’s Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission to introduce an initiative aimed at developing the creative writing skills of young Saudi students, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Titled “Generation of Literature” initiative, the programme specifically targets exceptionally talented middle school students, highlighting the importance of nurturing and harnessing their innate literary talents.
With a keen focus on expanding knowledge across various genres, including science fiction, detective stories, children’s tales, short stories, and essays, the initiative has successfully enlisted more than 150 students from diverse regions across the Kingdom.
The comprehensive nine-week programme will be conducted both in person, with sessions in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran, and virtually, ensuring that students from all corners of Saudi Arabia have equal access to the opportunities provided.
Operated under the ministry, the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission holds a pivotal role in identifying and fostering talent, aligning its efforts with the broader vision of Saudi Vision 2030.
The initiative aims to empower gifted students in the realm of creative writing, fostering an environment that inspires talent and creativity while encouraging literary expression among students.
Mawhiba, renowned for delivering multiple enrichment programmes for promising students, provides advanced scientific knowledge and experiences that challenge and refine their abilities. These programmes not only promote efficiency and readiness but also prepare students for both local and international scientific and practical experiences.
The “Generation of Literature” initiative is meticulously designed to align with literary fields and genres suitable for the targeted age group, embodying a transformative step towards nurturing the next generation of Saudi literary talents.
