The IWC Gulf Filmmaker Award by Luxury Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen and the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) were held last night in the presence of celebrity guests.
Maysoon Pachachi, director of Nothing Doing in Baghdad received the Filmmakers Award for his notable work. The award was presented by Cate Blanchett, President of the IWC Gulf Filmmaker Award jury. He was also given an IWC watch engraved with the wording For the Love of Cinema.
We believe new voices and viewpoints should be heard and are convinced that talent and stories from the Gulf region deserve an international stage. We are proud to be a partner of the Dubai International Film Festival, and through the IWC Gulf Filmmaker Award we are able to contribute to Arab storytelling in general and to the funding of a new film project for established and upcoming directors here in the Middle East in particular, Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, says.
The ceremony was attended by 300 guests. Among them were IWC Friends of the Brand and Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Spacey as well as, British director and DIFF Lifetime Achivement honoree Michael Apted, Raja Al Jadawi and Sherine Adel.
